Home - News RSS feed - In harmony with victory: Lobachevsky University Choir wins five awards at the All-Russian Competition

The Lobachevsky University Choir was awarded five prizes at the 9th All-Russian Choral Competition "Yekaterinburg Spring".  The event that was held in Yekaterinburg gathered more than 2,300 performers from 75 groups representing Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Republics of Crimea, Karelia, and Udmurtia, Perm Krai, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Magnitogorsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, and Orsk.


The competition jury included renowned figures in choral art from Minsk (Belarus), Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Yekaterinburg. The Lobachevsky University Choir participated in two categories: "Mixed Choir" and "Folklore," as well as in a Friendly concert and a master class led by Olga Yanum, the jury chairperson from Minsk, Belarus.

At the conclusion of the competition, the Lobachevsky University Choir was honoured with the highest accolades: the ensemble was awarded a Gold Laureate Diploma in the Mixed Choir category (98.7 points) and another Gold Laureate Diploma in the Folklore category (98.7 points). Additionally, the UNN Choir received a diploma for the best performance of sacred music (P. Chesnokov's "You Are an Invincible Wall") and for the best interpretation of a folk song ("Eagle — God's Bird", arranged by M. Barashev). Larisa Erykalova, the choir's director, was singled out for special recognition, being named the best conductor of the competition.
