Innovations in clinical medicine discussed at UNN
On March 4, Nizhny Novgorod hosted the 6th Interregional Research Conference with international participation "Innovations in Clinical Medicine". This year's event was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Lobachevsky University and took place on its campus.
At the opening ceremony, Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University, delivered a welcoming speech:
"This conference is very important for the development of medicine both at our university and in the country as a whole. This year, it is dedicated to the important milestone of the 110th anniversary of Lobachevsky University. Traditionally, the conference is attended by young researchers and professionals, including graduates of our Institute of Clinical Medicine. It is a pleasure to see Alexander Kalinkin, Russia's leading expert in sleep medicine, and Nikita Lomakin, Chief Cardiologist of the Presidential Administration, among the distinguished guests. Their expertise will be invaluable in the development of the UNN University Clinic, where we plan to establish a sleep medicine department."
During the conference, the following topics were discussed: managing patients with multiple chronic conditions to promote active longevity; modern medical technologies and medicines for delivering quality healthcare; current advances in combatting cardiovascular diseases as the leading cause of mortality, as well as other subjects.
"Conferences with international participation offer a platform for sharing experiences not only within the region and the country, but also between those countries with which we have established educational and scientific partnerships. The UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine has made a significant impact through research conducted at its departments and the University Clinic. Moreover, the Institute supports practical healthcare by dispatching young interns, medical graduates, and senior students. Together we are solving the problems that are most pressing for our region," shared Tatyana Kovalenko, Deputy Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region, during the conference opening.
The conference also featured five symposia covering various themes: "Innovations in Lipidology," "Interdisciplinary Problems in Clinical Medicine," "Current Topics in Surgical Dentistry, Orthodontics, Modern Dentistry, Therapeutic, and Preventive Dentistry," as well as a competition for young researchers in the fields of "General Medicine" and "Dentistry."
The roundtable discussion for international alumni "From Theory to Practice: The Experience of Graduates from the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine in Russia and Abroad" held a special place in the conference programme. This session focused on the career paths of graduates from the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine and was organised by the University's International Ambassadors League.
Dr. Natalia Grigorieva, Director of the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine, noted:
"Our conference stands out among medical conferences for two reasons: it is held on university grounds, and it has gathered both practicing physicians and young researchers—our senior students and residents. Today, our event has brought together participants from over 20 Russian cities and 10 countries."
