According to the decision of the UNN Academic Council of January 25, 2023, the Institute for Ageing Biology will be established at Lobachevsky University.

"The need to increase the life expectancy and healthy longevity of the Russian population is stated in the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation. As of today, there is not a single institute on the scientific map of Russia that is specifically engaged in the research of ageing biology," said Elena Zagaynova, Rector of Lobachevsky University.

The main tasks of the new unit at Lobachevsky University will be to develop an ageing clock for different functional body systems, to analyse ECG and CT data using artificial intelligence methods, to develop short- and long-term prediction systems for cardiovascular diseases, and to organise a "cardiac consulting office" that will provide telemedical support for people with cardiac pathologies.

"The Institute will include laboratories for systemic medicine of healthy ageing, laboratories for diagnostics and prognosis of cardiovascular diseases, a laboratory for digital psychophysiology and a laboratory for studying cellular ageing," Elena Zagaynova added.

The UNN Institute for Ageing Biology will be headed by Alexey Moskalyov, a young biologist from Moscow who is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
