Scientific conference "Gorky Readings. Maxim Gorky. Paradigms of Philosophical and Literary Search of the 20th-21st Centuries" opened on March 28, the famous writer’s birthday, at the Art Museum of Nizhny Novgorod. Lobachevsky University is one of conference organisers. During the two days of the conference, more than 80 presentations will be given by scholars from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and other cities of Russia and from foreign countries. Foreign participants from Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, Serbia will present their papers remotely.

Larisa Zhukovskaya, Director of the UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism, addressed the conference with a welcoming speech. "Many things change in our life but for 150 years people have been reading and studying Gorky, probably because despite all the changes in this life the universal values that Gorky wrote and thought about remain with us today. Every conference brings something new, researchers keep working and I think it's especially important that in today's situation we hold our international readings. It is impossible to stop scholarly thought and academic cooperation by cancelling flights.”

Conference sections continue their work on March 29 at several city venues: at the UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism, at the Gorky Apartment Museum, and at the Lenin Regional Library.
