"I am truly delighted to welcome the participants of the International Summer University to UNN. As we know, knowledge is absorbed most effectively when accompanied by positive emotions. This is precisely the approach taken in the programme of the Summer University and its affiliated summer schools: the educational process is complemented by new vivid impressions of our city and region, the most beautiful sights, history, traditions, and, of course, social interaction. We value the fact that Lobachevsky University serves as a point of attraction for people from around the world seeking high-quality education and new knowledge. Over seven thousand students from various countries study in Nizhny Novgorod, with approximately a third of them enrolled at Lobachevsky University," said Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice Rector for Strategic Development and International Affairs.

The project's flagship programme is the international summer school "Summer in Russian," which Lobachevsky University has been running since 2010. This year, over 20 participants from Guatemala, Mexico, China, and Turkey will join the programme. It offers students the opportunity to enhance their language proficiency and explore Russian culture, history, and regional traditions through a combination of intensive Russian language classes and a comprehensive cultural and sightseeing programme in Nizhny Novgorod and the surrounding area.

A student from Ankara University, Kambur Yelchin, is one of the participants in the "Summer in Russian" programme. "I came from Turkey, from Ankara, because I want to explore Russian culture here in Nizhny Novgorod. At home, I study Russian as a foreign language. This is my first time in Russia, and I'm very happy to be here at Lobachevsky University. I hope this will be an unforgettable month: I will learn more about Russian culture, meet other international students, and improve my Russian language skills," the student shared.

Anna Ngoma, Associate Professor at the Department of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language and the head of the Integration volunteer movement, says: "Linguistic partners are kind Russian friends with whom our guests will communicate during the summer school. Each participant has at least three meetings scheduled, with the location and time agreed independently. After each meeting, international students will need to prepare a brief report. Our youth volunteer movement has been around for 18 years, and we have extensive experience in adapting and integrating international students."

The "Summer Multidisciplinary University" module of the Russian-African Network University (RAFU) will be held as a separate thematic school, supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. This is the third time that Lobachevsky University has implemented this format. This year, the summer school focuses on functional diagnostics, specifically the integration of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) with modern patient assessment scales and evidence-based medicine methods. The school will bring together 15 medical students from Algeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, the Republic of the Congo, Tunisia, and Chad.

The third track is the International Eurasian Summer School, which will be conducted online. The school's programme aims to comprehensively analyse Russia's role in the economic structure of the Eurasian Economic Union and the peculiarities of doing business in the context of the Eurasian economic integration. The participants will include 10 students from EAEU member states and observer countries — Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Iran.

"Today we are opening several summer schools at once. Experts from our university will assist you in enhancing your professional skills, and you will have the chance to acquire a wealth of interesting and new knowledge. The International Summer University is not just about practical classes and lectures. It is also a great opportunity to get to know Russia, its culture and people. I really hope that the time you will spend at Lobachevsky University will be special for each of you: in addition to new knowledge and professional achievements, you will also make new friends, as friendship transcends national borders,"said  Nailya Bakhtiyarova, head of the Centre for Educational Programmes for Foreign Citizens and head of the "Summer in Russian"school.
