On December 5, 2017, a seminar "International trends in the development of higher education" was held at Lobachevsky University for the leadership of the UNN, which was followed by a regional information session on the international program Erasmus+ for representatives of universities of Nizhny Novgorod and the Volga Federal District. This event was organized by the UNN Center for International Education. The seminar and information session was conducted by Olga Oleinikova, Director of the National Office of the European Commission's Erasmus+ program in Russia, and the office administrator Natalia Aksenova. UNN Rector Evgeny Chuprunov opened the seminar with a welcoming speech. The seminar covered a range of issues related to the university’s activities in the context of the internationalization of higher education and the construction of the European Higher Education Area. The information session was focused on the new call for proposals for the 2018 Erasmus+ program. The participants were briefed on various aspects of the program, on opportunities and conditions for participation. An analysis of the results of previous competitions was presented, and recommendations were made regarding the preparation of applications for 2018. The following topics were covered in detail: "Erasmus+ program - opportunities for participation of Russian universities"; "Capacity building in the field of Higher Education"; "Jean Monnet program: goals and objectives, types of grants and activities"; "Peculiarities of the preparation of applications for the 2018 competition for the Jean Monnet program." At the end of the information session, individual consultations were held concerning the participation in the program.
