International Youth Research Forum at UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism
On April 19, the International Youth Research Forum "Young Researchers: New Vectors of Dialogue" took place at the Department of Journalism of the UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism, bringing together media researchers from Russia, Belarus, China, Algeria, Italy, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.
Opening the Forum, Larisa Zhukovskaya, Director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, Olga Savinova, Head of the Journalism Department, and Sergey Zolotov, Head of the Institute's Centre for Development of International Cooperation, noted the wide range of topics covered by the Forum, as well as the geographic coverage of the reports presented. Among the topics proposed for discussion were the issues of intercultural dialogue, the functioning of journalism and media communications, the specifics of regional press, the development of content strategies of modern media, the characteristics of social media projects, the activities of foreign media, some legal issues related to fake news, and many others.
More than 20 papers were presented in two mixed-format sessions. The Forum's guests and participants received each presentation with interest and asked engaging and challenging questions, thus allowing the authors to identify new vectors for their future research pursuits.
The lecturers of the Journalism Department noted the high level of the presentations made by the Forum participants, encouraged and welcomed the approaches proposed by the speakers during the analysis of empirical material, and made recommendations for the development of research methodology.
A collection of articles by the participants was published on the eve of the conference. For many of the authors, this was their first academic publication.
