IT Academy opens new opportunities for Lobachevsky University students
On March 23, GAZ Group opened its IT Academy at the GAZ Group's corporate university together with higher and secondary educational institutions of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Lobachevsky University is one of the project partners. A total of 130 students, including those from UNN, will start a free supplementary education programme as early as April. They will study programming, system administration, network solutions, including the application to current problems of industrial production.
According to Mikhail Shiryaev, UNN Vice-Rector for Innovation, the students have shown a great interest in the offer to study at the IT Academy that opens them the possibility of future employment at the region's leading manufacturing company.
UNN also plans to expand cooperation with GAZ Group. Arrangements have already been made with the company's management to meet and explore the research and education opportunities at Lobachevsky University.
"Lobachevsky University holds strong positions in such areas as modelling of complex systems, electronics development, and artificial intelligence, which provides the basis for modern driver assistance systems. UNN has unique competencies, it can develop new algorithms and software solutions for vehicles produced in Russia. This is important in the context of increased requirements for import substitution. We intend to continue this work both within the framework of implementation of joint educational programmes and as part of joint applied research with GAZ Group. We can also offer our partners new non-metallic materials for automobiles, new electronics, human-machine interfaces and many other things," said Mikhail Shiryaev.
Vadim Sorokin, President of GAZ Group:
"Training our own high-class IT professionals is more relevant today than ever before. At our IT Academy we will train future specialists who will be able to apply their talents in both automobile design and development of digital projects. I would like to thank our partners from the educational institutions for their help in organizing the process. I am sure that the IT Academy students will become true professionals in their field, who will shape the future of new projects at GAZ Group and in the automotive industry".
The IT Academy is a project of Russia's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, GAZ Group. The aim of the project is in-depth training of IT specialists taking into account the future challenges of the automotive industry. The project is implemented on the basis of the GAZ Group corporate university with participation of certified teachers from the IT industry and also experts from GAZ Group's IT departments and the company's United Engineering Centre.
