Japanese business delegation visits Lobachevsky University
On February 19, a representative delegation of Japanese business circles visited Lobachevsky University. The delegation included representatives of major Japanese corporations: Mitsubishi Group, Toshiba Corporation, Hitachi Ltd and others.
The delegation of the Japan Business Federation "Kaidenren" was headed by Mr. Teruo Asada, Chairman of the Japan-Russia Committee on Economic Cooperation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Marubeni Company. He was accompanied by Mr. Toyohisa Kozuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia. Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Japan Petr Pavlenko also visited the University as part of the delegation.
Nizhny Novgorod region was the only region of Russia, which the delegation of Japan’s business circles chose to visit.
Lobachevsky University scientists presented their research results and projects in some key areas, including biomedicine, neurotechnologies, medical engineering, digital medicine and IT. After introducing the guests to the research infrastructure of the University, a presentation of the industrial and innovation potential of the Nizhny Novgorod region was made. It was opened by Igor Nosov, Deputy Governor and Deputy Prime Minister of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Mr. Asada also addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
A series of presentations of key Nizhny Novgorod enterprises as well as of the Research and Education Center “Technoplatform - 2035“ and of the Nizhny Novgorod region Oncology cluster were offered to the guests.
In the course of the meeting, Elena Zagaynova, UNN Acting Rector, outlined the University's plans to expand its partnership with Japan not only in academic and scientific exchanges, but also in cooperation with business.
"I hope that today begins a new stage of our partnership. There will be new collaborations in business, our basic research and R&D projects will enter the commercialization phase. This is very important for us. This is a new field of activity. Thank you for your visit!", concluded Elena Zagaynova.
