On May 4, the 7th International Conference "Current Trends in Education Development: Best Russian and International Practices" started at Lobachevsky University. Over 250 participants from 48 Russian and 8 foreign educational institutions have registered to attend the conference this year.

UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov addressed the participants highlighting the significance of the conference topic in light of the ongoing transformations in Russia's higher education system. He noted the conference participants’ high qualifications and their commitment to enhancing the quality of Russian higher education. Oleg Trofimov expressed gratitude to the partner universities of UNN for their collaborative efforts in organising the event.

Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, noted in her welcoming address that the conference provides a valuable platform for professional dialogue. The forum allows participants to discuss pressing issues in the development of higher education in Russia, best practices from universities based on comparative analysis of educational programmes, experiences in implementing innovative educational technologies, challenges of internationalisation, and other topics over several days in a balanced mix of scheduled programming and informal interactions. She also thanked Lobachevsky University  for upholding the tradition of organising this event since 2019 and noted that the forum has become a significant milestone in the Russian research and educational community.

Following the opening of the conference in a remote format, the proceedings continued in parallel breakout sessions.  The conference’s programme will consist of plenary sessions, discussion platforms and master classes.
