Lobachevsky University Choir recognized as the Best Choir at the International Forum of Student Choirs
From May 16 to May 19, the XIV International Forum of Student Choirs "Paparats-Kvetka BDU" was held at the Belarusian State University (Minsk). Choirs from Belarus, Georgia and Russia took part in this large-scale event, including the Lobachevsky University Choir, the youth chamber choir "Vivat" (Moscow), the academic choir "Moderato" (Moscow), the Folk vocal ensemble "Sing, Friend!" (Irkutsk), the choir of the St. Petersburg Mining University "Montem" (St. Petersburg), the choir of the Evgeny Mikeladze Central Music School (Tbilisi), Folk Choir of the Belarusian State University (Minsk).
The forum participants also attended a master class by the Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus Igor Matyukhov. The main events of the forum included performances of choirs that competed in two areas: "Sacred music" and "Secular music." The secular program was performed on the stage of the Minsk State College of Music. According to the results of this performance, the jury determined that the Lobachevsky University Choir was the best in this category. The second stage of the competition took place at the Blessed Virgin Mary Archcathedral. There, the Lobachevsky University Choir performed N. Lebedev's spiritual chant “Quiet Light”, which was recognized the best work of the forum.
At the gala concert of the festival, the winners of other nominations were also announced in the categories “Spiritual program”, “Conductor”, “Soloist” and “Accompanist”. The most important nomination “The Best Choir” was given to the Choir of Lobachevsky University. Thus, the UNN singers returned to Nizhny Novgorod with three new titles earned at the International Forum “Paparats-Kvetka BDU”: “The Best Choir”, “The Best Performance of the Secular Program” and “The Best Work”.
