Rector of Lobachevsky University Evgeny Chuprunov, Dean of the UNN Faculty of Law Victor Tsyganov and Head of the Center for International Projects and Programs Alexander Gorylev took part in the II Central Asian International Forum on Quality Assurance in Education, which was held on October 16 in the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Forum, organized by the Kazakhstan Independent Accreditation and Rating Agency (IARA), was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, experts of international European networks for quality assurance in higher education, Russian and foreign accreditation bodies, international organizations in the field of education from Belgium , Germany, Hungary, Latvia and Moldova, top managers of universities in Central Asian countries and researchers.

The forum was focused on the issues related to the strategic priorities in the modernization of the education system, the development of a national system for quality assurance in education, internationalization, academic mobility and a student-centered approach to ensuring the quality of education. International accreditation experience and the best foreign practices in the field of educational quality were presented to forum participants.

In his speech “Leading University: the components of educational quality”, UNN Rector Evgeny Chuprunov identified four important areas: innovative approaches to ensuring the quality of education at the university; research as an element for ensuring the quality of education; international inter-university cooperation as a way to ensure the quality of education; improvement of the university policy aimed at quality assurance. At the panel session on the role of the Bologna process in the improvement of the education system, Head of the Center for International Projects and Programs Alexander Gorylev spoke on the implementation of joint educational programs as a necessary element of higher education internationalization. UNN delegation’s participation in this international dialogue platform provided an additional opportunity to discuss and share best practices in the development of a system for quality assurance, accreditation and ranking studies, to enhance UNN’s cooperation with international networks and agencies and with universities in Kazakhstan.
