From December 10 to December 20,  the Fifth Joint Working Group of Russian Regions and Anhui Province held its meeting in China. This format of cooperation, organized by the People's Government of Anhui Province, allows representatives of various fields from Russian regions to learn more about the possibilities of cooperation with this province.

This year, the Nizhny Novgorod region delegation included Irina Leonova, Director of the International Affairs Department of the Lobachevsky University, as well as representatives of the Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University and the Research and Education Center of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This visit is especially important in the light of the fact that 2020 has been declared the Cross Year of Russia and China, which means that the agreements reached by the Working Group and the proposed projects can be effectively implemented.

In the course of the Fifth Working Group sessions, the participants held talks with the heads of the authorities and various organizations in Anhui Province. In particular, meetings were held with the head of the Foreign Affairs Office of Anhui Provincial People's Government, the head of the Department of Science and Technology and a representative of the high-tech and advanced manufacturing area. During these meetings, members of the Russian delegation were told about the achievements of the province, scientific and technological development, innovation and promising areas of cooperation.

Within the framework of the visit, Irina Leonova made a presentation of Lobachevsky University for Chinese partners, speaking about the achievements of the university, promising areas of research and plans to develop cooperation with colleagues from Anhui Province.

The delegation also visited China University of Science and Technology, Proton Beam Therapy Center, IFLY TEK Company, Institute of Advanced Technologies, East China Research Institute of Electronic Engineering, Hefei Institute of Physical Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Wuhu Aviation Industrial Park.
