Lobachevsky University participates in the federal program “Priority Areas for Research and Development in Russia in 2014-2020,” which aims, among other things, to foster import substitution. UNN researchers headed by Rustam Deberdeyev, PI of the Laboratory of Polymers of the Chemistry Research Institute of UNN research the possibility of modification of chemical raw materials using vortex reactors for lower energy and resource consumption.

The project aims to introduce vortex reactors into chemical production. These reactors sometimes also called vortex layer apparatus are the unique devices that provide intensive interfusion of reaction medium and blending of elements dissolved in the medium using simultaneous rotation (and collision) of a large number of ferromagnetic elements located in the processing chamber of the reactor and set in motion by the external rotating magnetic field.

This project also includes plans to create energy and resource efficient technology for production of paints, soluble rubbers, o/w emulsions using vortex reactors.

Project tasks include development of experimental equipment for the abovementioned production, study of processes occurring in the vortex reactor in order to develop methods of control and selection of the most optimal modes of operation, development of technology for production of products.

The project can also help create new energy and resource efficient technologies for production of chemicals and materials and improve the effectiveness of the existing production platforms, which in turn will positively affect the national economy and industrial production.

The project will be implemented during 2015-2017 jointly with the industrial partner Regionmettrans.
