Lobachevsky University expands ties with Belarusian partners
On May 27-28, a delegation from Lobachevsky University, led by Rector Oleg Trofimov, visited the Republic of Belarus. The purpose of the trip was to participate in the Third Forum of Rectors of Universities of Russia, Brazil, and Belarus, as well as in the Sixth Forum of the Association of Universities of Russia and Belarus. During the visit, representatives of Lobachevsky University visited several major Belarusian universities. Agreements on further cooperation were signed with several of them, including an agreement on student exchange with the Belarusian State Economic University, and agreements on cooperation in the field of education and science with the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Academy of National Security of the Republic of Belarus, and the Minsk branch of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
"This is not the first time that Lobachevsky University has participated in the Forum of Rectors of Universitiesof Russia, Brazil, and Belarus. We are strategic partners with universities in these countries. In Brazil, our colleagues include the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the Federal University of Western Bahia, and the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Sul de Minas. As for Belarus, our partner network now includes 21 leading scientific and educational organisations: four institutes of the National Academy of Sciences, 16 universities, and the Freestyle Ski Federation of the Republic of Belarus. We conduct academic exchanges between students and young scientists, organise various joint conferences, symposiums, and internships. During our current trip to Belarus, we have signed several agreements with Belarusian universities, which will contribute to the development of closer and more fruitful cooperation between our countries in the fields of science and education," said UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov.
Lobachevsky University maintains active cooperation with many educational institutions in the Republic of Belarus, including the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian State Medical University, the Belarusian State University of Physical Education, the International University "MITSO", the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, the Belarusian State University of Economics, the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research, the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and others. Together with Belarusian colleagues, UNN implements a number of research, educational, and youth projects. Currently, 10 Belarusian citizens are studying at Lobachevsky University.
