This year,  Lobachevsky University made its debut in the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject.  With its high position in the 251-300 band, it is now listed among the 300 world's best universities in the subject area "Physics and Astronomy". The QS world rankings by subject were released for the seventh time. QS evaluated 4,438 universities around the world and analyzed more than 18,900 individual programs to come up with the university rankings by subject in 2017. Ultimately, in the course of rigorous competitive selection, 1,117 universities were ranked according to a total of 46 subjects.

According to UNN Rector, Professor Evgeny Chuprunov, the listing of Lobachevsky University for the first time in this prestigious subject rating of the world's best universities confirms that  education and science are developing at the University according to high world standards.

 "Not only did we enter the rating for the first time in such subject areas as physics and astronomy, but we also confidently occupied our place in the top 300 of the world university elite, thus proving once again that the University's research and educational activities have reached a qualitatively new level. We are able to compete successfully in many areas with the best universities in the world and we are not going to stop there", said Evgeny Chuprunov.

"Thanks to UNN's participation in the Russian Academic Excellence Project, the University has created completely new conditions and opportunities for its students, postgraduates and employees in the implementation of their research, educational and innovation potential",  added Evgeny Chuprunov.
