Lobachevsky University hosts strategy session on technology transfer
On 24 October, the UNN Innovation Development Centre hosted a strategy session on the development, production and export of high technologies. The meeting was attended by representatives of Lobachevsky University and employees of enterprises that make part of Rostec State Corporation.
The event was opened by Vladimir Vanin, Head of the UNN Technology Transfer Centre. In his welcoming speech he noted that the aim of the meeting was to establish business relations between Lobachevsky University and Rostec State Corporation.
“In many cases, companies have no idea about the current research and development activities of our university's scientists, and we, in turn, do not know about the urgent needs of the industry for certain technologies. The purpose of the UNN Technology Transfer Centre is to facilitate a dialogue between representatives of the research community and practitioners,” he pointed out.
The second expert speaker was Alexey Mikhaylov, Head of the UNN Research Laboratory for Memristor Nanoelectronics. He made a presentation on “Neuroelectronics: intelligent neuromorphic and neurohybrid systems based on new electronic components”.
Then Nikolay Starostin, Professor of the Department of Informatics and Research Automation at the Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics of Lobachevsky University took the floor. He told the audience about the existing intelligent decision-making systems.
The final presentation at the strategy session was a report on “Intelligent Airspace Monitoring System” by Dmitry Palguyev, Associate Professor at the Department of Radio Engineering, UNN Faculty of Physics.
In summarising the results of the meeting, Igor Karkhalyov, Head of the Nizhny Novgorod representative office of Rostec State Corporation, noted:
“Today's meeting gave each of us a better idea of what the university can do. Thanks to such events, representatives of the research sector and the industrial sector are beginning to hear each other better and gradually establish business ties. When Lobachevsky University can provide a particular development and a particular company has a need for it, it is important not only to establish a dialogue, but also to continue it. Such discussions may result in the practical application of the technologies developed by the scientists”.
Following all the presentations, the session participants discussed some pressing issues and mapped out plans for future interaction.
