Lobachevsky University increases its standing in Times Higher Education subject rankings
Times Higher Education (THE) has published a new ranking of world universities (THE World University Rankings by Subject). The agency evaluates universities in 11 consolidated areas of training: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Medicine and Healthcare, Natural Sciences, Psychology, Social Sciences. Universities are assessed on 5 groups indicators: quality of education, research environment, quality of publications, interaction with real sector, and international outlook. The conditions for selecting universities in the ranking include the number of publications (at least 500 for the exact sciences and at least 100 for the social sciences) and the proportion of the university's faculty in the particular subject.
In 2024, Lobachevsky University for the first time entered the rankings in Arts and Humanities (601+ group in the world and 12th-16th place in Russia), Medicine and Healthcare (801-1000 group in the world and 5th-10th place in Russia) and Social Sciences (1001+ group in the world and 17th-22nd place in Russia). Lobachevsky University has also been ranked for 5 years in a row in Natural Sciences (1001+ in the world and 23rd-56th in Russia), Engineering (1001-1250 group in the world and 22nd-31st in Russia), Life Sciences (801-1000 group in the world and 11th-16th in Russia) and Computer Sciences (801-1000 group in the world and 13th-19th place in Russia). Thus, UNN that participates in 7 out of 11 THE subject rankings is the most widely represented and highly rated university in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
