On January 15, the Times Higher Education (THE) published its ranking of universities in the countries with actively developing economies - the 2019 THE Emerging Economies University Rankings. Lobachevsky University was ranked in the range 251-300. In total, 35 Russian universities were listed (compared to 27 a year before). Among the Russian institutions of higher education, the first place is held by the Lomonosov Moscow State University, which ranks fifth in the overall THE rating. According to the UNN Rector, Professor Evgeny Chuprunov, the University’s indicators fully reflect the results of extensive work that has been carried out for several years to implement the UNN’s Competitiveness Enhancement Program.

The 2019 THE Emerging Economies University Rankings covers 450 leading universities. In compiling the ranking, universities from 43 countries were analyzed, including China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Turkey, Qatar, Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, etc. The ranking results are based on the data used to compile the worldwide Times Higher Education ranking in 2018. Its methodology involves the application of 13 performance indicators, including the quality of teaching and research, the citation of scientific publications of the university, international cooperation, financial sustainability, and knowledge transfer.
