Lobachevsky University launches LiNNguotour project
The LiNNguotour youth media intensive training session started on April 10 at the Institute of Philology and Journalism of Lobachevsky University. During April, 100 Russian and international students from Nizhny Novgorod higher education institutions, including Lobachevsky University, Minin State Pedagogical University, Dobrolyubov State Linguistic University and Higher School of Economics, will take part in the educational event. The programme includes lectures, master classes on the basics of video production, marketing, modern design, tour guiding, as well as interactive quests and a visit to the UNN Media Centre. The project is implemented with the grant support of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).
As a result of their work, LiNNguotur trainees will produce unique tourist media content in English, Arabic and Chinese languages, including three interactive maps of Nizhny Novgorod city centre.
"We have 92 thousand students in our region, including six thousand international students from 110 countries, and I think that LiNNguotour will help both new international students and those students who are already studying here to adapt and to explore every corner of Nizhny Novgorod. When you create a good quality guide to the city, upload interesting information in several languages, this product will also be useful to the adult professional community, including diplomats who regularly visit our city," said Olga Guseva, Minister of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod region, addressing the project participants.
The project is initiated and hosted by Lobachevsky University. Welcoming the training session participants, Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Networking, said that the project addresses many important tasks.
"The LiNNgvotour project is special, it unites Russian and foreign students from Nizhny Novgorod universities who will work together to create content for interactive maps of Nizhny Novgorod. The participants have a great opportunity to build intercultural communication, improve their foreign language skills, and will also make a significant contribution to developing the tourist potential of our much-loved city," Alexander Bedny emphasised.
He also added that the media training session will make it possible to prepare young volunteer tour guides from among students who will be able to introduce the city to foreign guests. The results of the project will be summed up on 25 April 2024.
