Lobachevsky University listed among the top 20 in the publication activity rating of Russian academic institutions

One of the main criteria for assessing an organization’s research work is the number of scientific publications. The Internet edition Indicator.Ru has analyzed the data on Russian academic institutions’ publication activity provided by the Federal system for monitoring the performance of scientific organizations involved in research and development. In 2017, Lobachevsky University ranks 17th among Russian academic organizations in terms of the number of publications indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus.
This year’s leaders according to the Web of Science are Moscow State University (5526 publications), ??St. Petersburg State University (2877), Tomsk Polytechnic University (2418), Novosibirsk State University (2357), Tomsk State University (2149), MEPhI (2059), ITMO (1712), Ural Federal University (1690), Kazan Federal University (1667) and MIPT (1607).
The second dozen of Russian leaders in the Web of Science includes the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, ??St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Higher School of Economics, Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Central Scientific Library of the Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lobachevsky University, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Siberian Federal University and the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.
According to Pavel Kasyanov, a science of science expert for Clarivate Analytics, the numbers provided by the Federal monitoring system correlate well with the information in the WoS system.
“This year, thanks to our project aimed at creating profiles for all Russian scientific organizations, it is much easier to find, compare and test the figures in the Web of Science Core Collection. I believe that in a year or two it will be possible to open the Web of Science or InCites and in a couple of minutes to rank all Russian academic institutions by any topic or indicator of interest", says Pavel Kasyanov.
