Lobachevsky University opens this year’s admissions for the professional development program “Introduction to Excursion Planning: Tour Guide”.

The main purpose of the program is to train prospective tour guides in the methods of organizing and conducting an excursion according to modern standards.

The program combines lectures on the basics of tour planning, tour guiding techniques and excursion management with practical training aimed at developing communication and acting skills.

The program pays special attention to the historic and cultural heritage of the region, which allows future tour guides to understand the standard types of tours around Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region, and create their own thematic tours. In the process of training, participants of the program will have to prepare their own project of a tour that they will be able to use in their work as guides.

The launch of the professional development program “Introduction to Excursion Planning: Tour Guide” at the Institute of International Relations and World History of Lobachevsky University was initiated by the Center of Tourism Education, Research and Tourism Industry Cooperation.

All the instructors are UNN professors or officials from the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

It is the first program in Nizhny Novgorod that provides its graduates with an opportunity to get a new profession and receive a state-recognized diploma instead of a certificate that is usually issued at the end of a professional development program.
