UNN professors conducted an outreach "Olympiad School" for gifted schoolchildren of the Nizhny Novgorod region at the Lazurny Children's Health, Recreation and Education Centre. Participating in the School's  activities were pupils of grades 7-9,  winners and runners-up in various olympiads and competitions, who were selected and received free vouchers to Lazurny for the "VegaChampions" shift from October 24 to November 6.

Alexei Gushchin, Professor of the UNN Department of Organic Chemistry, Dmitry Chekmarev, Professor of the Department of Theoretical, Computer and Experimental Mechanics, and Mikhail Kurnikov, PhD student of the General Physics Department, prepared an interesting and rich program for their young students. Each day during the shift that was focused on sciences,  the schoolchildren had five hours of in-depth theoretical and practical training in their chosen subject (physics, mathematics or chemistry). "Olympiad School" participants  enjoyed their time, gained new knowledge, prepared for olympiads, had interesting discussions with university professors, learned more about Lobachevsky University and various events and forms of work with school students that the university offers.

The "Olympiad School", an intensive training camp for school students of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region, was held at the Lazurny Centre for the 14th time. The project is implemented jointly with the VEGA Regional Centre for Identifying, Supporting and Developing Abilities and Talents in Children and Youth.
