Lobachevsky University recognized in the 2019 Times Higher Education Subject Rankings
Based on the results of 2018, Lobachevsky University has been recognized in the prestigious subject ranking of the world’s best universities, the 2019 Times Higher Education Subject Rankings. In the area of "Engineering Science and Technology" its position is in the 800+ band. This is one more subject ranking where the UNN was first listed; earlier this year, the University appeared in the 601-800 band in the area of "Physics and Astronomy".
According to UNN Rector, Professor Evgeny Chuprunov, the good standing of Lobachevsky University among the world university elite is the result of Lobachevsky University’s major achievements in research and innovation during the recent years. “A noticeable improvement in the University’s indicators in 2018 and its listing in several major subject rankings confirm once again Lobachevsky University’s high reputation as one of the leaders in the field of education and science. An important factor in the development of the UNN is its participation in the Russian Academic Excellence Project,” said Evgeny Chuprunov.
The Times Higher Education Subject Rankings covers 11 subject areas and employs the same rigorous and balanced range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. As part of the study, universities are comprehensively assessed for the quality of their educational services, academic and research reputation, citations, international outlook, and financial results.
In total, according to the 2018 results, 28 Russian universities were included in the subject ranking "Engineering Sciences and Technologies" (18 of them for the first time), including 15 universities participating in the 5-100 Project.
