Lobachevsky University scholar makes it to the superfinal of the Leaders of Russia 2020 competition
Alexander Petukhov, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Theory of International Relations at the UNN Institute of International Relations and World History, became the superfinalist of the Leaders of Russia 2020 competition representing the Nizhny Novgorod region. The Leaders of Russia competition is supported by the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. Co-organizers of the "Science" specialization of the Leaders of Russia 2020 competition were the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education under the President of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Its main task is to identify and support promising leaders from across the country who have high management potential and motivation. The finals in the specialization "Science" took place on March 17 in Sochi. 10 persons from 7 regions made it to the superfinal of the competition.
"Science" is one of three additional profile tracks of the Leaders of Russia competition in 2020. It is intended to form a community of leaders in the country's scientific and technological development. The winners of the contest in the specialization "Science" will be able to take managerial positions in the regions that implement programs for the development of Research and Education Centers,at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia and at regional specialized ministries, as well as at leading universities and research organizations. Superfinalists will also receive an educational grant worth one million roubles.
According to Elena Zagaynova, Acting Rector of Lobachevsky University, the University's efforts to develop breakthrough areas in science and technology have been noted once again at the state level. "The victory of our scientist in the Leaders of Russia competition opens new prospects and opportunities for the UNN to further develop basic research and to solve applied problems. I believe that those who take part in this contest today should demonstrate modern leadership approaches and bring something new to this field", Elena Zagaynova pointed out.
