In the context of cooperation between Lobachevsky University and Tehran Medical University (Iran), 8 students under the guidance of Petr Latsples, Associate Professor of the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine, took part in a winter school held in Tehran. The students took classes in 2 areas: "General Medicine" and "Dentistry". Participants of the school also included students from other Russian universities: Privolzhsky Research Medical University, Sechenov University, Pirogov Research Medical University. The most representative delegation was from Lobachevsky University. The Iranian university covered the tuition fees, accommodation, meals and a cultural programme.

Medical students attended lectures on the application of modern medical technologies, from radio and telemedicine to modern digital technologies and the application of artificial intelligence in medicine.  Practical trainings were held at the leading specialised hospitals of Tehran (including visits to operating rooms): Surgery Department of Ibn Sina Hospital, Amir Alam Hospital (specialising in ENT diseases), Tehran Cardiovascular Centre, Imam Khomeini Hospital Complex, Razi Hospital (specialising in dermatology). The students gained insight into Iran's medical technologies and medical expertise, participated in consultations, attended surgical procedures (e.g. carotid artery stenting) and even passed a micro-exam on functional anatomy of the heart.

The winter school for dental students included lectures on therapeutic dentistry and prevention of dental diseases, lectures on endodontics and paradontology, as well as practical training at the Tehran Medical University and dental clinics in the Iranian capital.

As a return courtesy to the Iranian partners, Lobachevsky University is developing a summer school programme in medicine and dentistry at the UNN Biomedical Cluster.
