Lobachevsky University students win gold at the badminton Victor Cup in China

In January, the 16th Victor Cup tournament was held in Harbin (PRC), gathering more than a thousand badminton players. The Russian team, comprised of athletes from Nizhny Novgorod and Leningrad regions, included two students of the UNN Faculty of Sports and Physical Education - Maria Golubeva and Alexander Guryanov, who triumphed in the team tournament winning gold medals.

A pleasant bonus for the young badminton players was a meeting with Zhao Jianhua, World Badminton Singles Champion, and multiple Asian Games Champion. Zhao held a training session and had a conversation with the athletes. After the tournament, the players of the Russian team also visited the Dragon Tower, one of Harbin’s most interesting landmarks.
