Within the framework of the priority national project "Development of export potential of the Russian education system", the 2nd Middle East exhibition "Russia - new opportunities for higher education" was held in Syria and Lebanon from 30 September to 6 October. More than 20 leading Russian universities took part in this event. The Lobachevsky University delegation included Konstantin Kemaev, Head of the Center for examination of foreign documents on education, Igor Komarov, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations and World History and Natalia Berenkova, Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Languages ​​and Cultural Linguistics.

Exhibition events that were held in the cities of Damascus, Latakia, Tripoli, Beirut, Tire and Batroun attracted thousands of visitors. In total, the Russian exhibition was attended by more than 10 000 persons. At the Lobachevsky University's exhibition booth, of greatest interest to Syrian and Lebanese students were the University's English-language programs in such areas of study as "Biology", "Chemistry", "Software Engineering", "Radiophysics", as well as specializations in the field of basic medicine. There was also much attention to UNN's summer schools: the program for the study of Russian language and culture "Summer in Russian", the English-language school “Russia goes global: modern international relations trends & challenges”, “Doing business in Russia”, “Practice in Android apps development & using big data”.

The exhibition was visited by distinguished guests: Mr. Saleh al-Rashid, Minister of Education of Syria, Alexander Zasipkin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Lebanon, V.I. Zaychikov, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Office in Lebanon, representatives of the academic, political and business circles of Lebanon and Syria. During the visit, meetings were held with the university community, where the UNN delegation told about Lobachevsky University's research and educational potential and discussed promising areas of cooperation with the Lebanese University, the Lebanese International University, the University of Damascus and Tishreen University.
