The international fair "Russian Education. Tashkent-2022", organized with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo, was held at the Tashkent State University of Economics from 22 to 24 September.

Taking part in this large-scale event were delegations from leading Russian higher education institutions. Lobachevsky University was represented at the fair by Konstantin Kemaev, Deputy Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and Ekaterina Smirnova, Head of the Department for International Student Affairs

The fair aims to increase the interest of international applicants to study in Russia. High school students came to the event together with their teachers and parents to learn about education fields, conditions of admission, and interesting projects implemented by Russian universities. During personal meetings with representatives of universities, they obtained exhaustive first-hand information.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Uzbekistan Oleg Malginov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Uzbekistan Mikhail Vozhdaev and Head of the international relations department of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan Shohrukh Akbarov addressed the participants at the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Pavel Shevtsov emphasised that interaction between Russia and Uzbekistan should keep up the momentum of educational and scientific cooperation and that as many unique joint projects as possible should be implemented.

The first day of the exhibition brought together a large number of potential applicants, and it is not surprising,

because this year a record number of Russian universities - 56 - came to introduce their educational programmes to Uzbek students!

Also, while in Uzbekistan, the UNN delegation visited Tashkent State Law University where cooperation issues, including a joint study programme in law, were discussed.

Lobachevsky University maintains cooperation with a number of Uzbek universities:

  • Bukhara Engineering and Technological University
  • Karshi State University
  • Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan (Tashkent)
  • Tashkent Financial Institute
  • Samarkand State University
  • Fergana State University

UNN also actively seeks applicants from Uzbekistan, participates in professional exhibitions and carries out joint projects with Uzbek universities. In June 2022, a UNN delegation led by Vice-Rector Alexander Bedny visited Tashkent and  held several meetings, including meetings with the management of partner universities in Uzbekistan, as well as the management of the Russian House in Tashkent.
