Lobachevsky University team takes 3rd place at ICPC World Programming Championship
The results of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) - Southern and Volga Russia Regional Contest were summed up at Saratov University. 84 student teams from 21 regions of Russia competed for the champion status and the right to go to St. Petersburg for the Northern Eurasia Finals.
Nizhny Novgorod was represented by the teams of Lobachevsky University, Alekseev Technical University and Higher School of Economics. Seven pre-qualified teams from Lobachevsky University included 21 students of the UNN Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics (IITMM) and of the UNN Advanced School of General and Applied Physics. The teams were coached by Alexey Shmelev, a graduate of the UNN Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, and led by Nikolay Borisov, Associate Professor of the Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics.
The winner of the competition was the Innopolis University team. The Lobachevsky University team composed of IITMM students (Vladislav Polozov, Damir Sadikov, Alexey Kruglov) took the third place.
One more team of UNN IITMM students (Artyom Sukharev, Denis Kulandin, Mikhail Burdukov) entered the top ten, taking the eighth place. These two teams will represent Lobachevsky University at the Northern Eurasia Finals this coming December.
