Acoording to the results of two competitions aimed at implementing the Federal Target Program "Research and development in priority directions of the scientific and technological complex of Russia for 2014-2020", two research projects submitted for the competitions by Lobachevsky University have received support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

In 2020, a team of Lobachevsky University scientists will receive 80 million roubles to modernize the unique multipurpose facility for the study of near-Earth and outer space (Sura Facility) and to develop its diagnostic tools. One more project aimed to update and develop the Center for shared use of scientific equipment "New materials and
resource-saving technologies" will get 94.75 million roubles in 2020 to support the implementation of research programs of the Research and Education Center.

Elena Zagaynova, Rector of Lobachevsky University, noted that the projects supported by the state are aimed at developing the equipment infrastructure and performing research with the use of unique instruments. "It is important that the projects that have received support will be carried out by universities and research institutions
working within the framework of the Research and Education Centers", - said Elena Zagaynova.

Lobachevsky University is one of the organizers of the Nizhny Novgorod world-class Research and Education Center (REC), one of the five such centers established in Russia in accordance with the Presidential Decree. The Center's aim is to strengthen the integration of science and education, including the commercialization of research results. In
total, it is planned to create a network of 15 such centers throughout the country by 2024.
