Lobachevsky University wins the special part of the Priority 2030 grant!
On October 5, Lobachevsky University was announced by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education to be the winner of the special part of the Priority 2030 programme grant in the field of Research Leadership.
At a meeting of the Presidium of the Priority 2030 Programme Board, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko summed up the results of the selection of universities for the special part of the grant.
"The competitive selection was organised at a high level, it was completely digital, and maximum transparency of the system for university evaluation and decision-making was ensured. Based on the results of the Board's commissions, we have identified 46 winners, who will receive the special part of the grant," said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The grant recipient universities were divided into three groups in each respective area: "Research Leadership" and "Territorial and Sectoral Leadership". Lobachevsky University, which was included in the second group of winning universities, will receive grant support among 18 universities in the Research Leadership track. Each group will have a different amount of funding, based on the coefficients determined by the Board.
Lobachevsky University’s development programme submitted for the competition includes four strategic megaprojects at the national level, each of them involving extensive use of modern IT technologies.
"I am very pleased with the results of our participation in the Priority 2030 federal programme. Our strategic projects "Healthy Generation", "Creative Personality", "Comfortable Environment" and "Fundamentals of Future Technologies" were highly appreciated by the competition commission. Congratulations to my team, which has been preparing the application for several months. I congratulate the entire Lobachevsky University for the recognition at the highest national level of our competences in the most complex, but also the most prestigious Research Leadership track. I would like to thank the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation for their confidence. I am sure that the implementation of the Priority 2030 programme will give a powerful impetus to the development of Russian science and education. Our university, together with the members of the consortia and superconsortia we have created with the participation of the RAS institutes (here I thank RAS President Alexander Sergeev for his invaluable help and trust!) will be able to make a worthy contribution to this most important national-level project. I would especially like to thank Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region. At all stages of the process - from the discussion and submission of the application to his personal presence and support at the defence - our Governor was with us," said Elena Zagaynova, Rector of Lobachevsky University.
In 2021-2022, Lobachevsky University will receive a special part of the grant in the amount of 426 million roubles in addition to the basic part. Earlier, in September, the first stage of defence of university development programmes for participation in the Priority 2030 programme took place. Lobachevsky University was among the winners of the basic part of the grant in the amount of 100 million roubles.
Priority 2030, launched during the Year of Science and Technology, is the most ambitious programme of state support for Russian universities in the country's history. Its goal is to form
a wide group of universities, which will become leaders in creating new scientific knowledge, technologies and R&D products to be implemented into the Russian economy and social sphere.
