The UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism has started the Year of Science and Technology with an international theoretical and practical conference "Media in a Changing World: Problems of Teaching and Learning", which was held in a mixed format at the Department of Journalism on March 10, 2021. This event brought together leading researchers from partner universities in Russia and foreign countries: Norway, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Moldova, Australia, as well as the European Association for the Teaching of Journalism, postgraduate and graduate students, journalists, and representatives of authorities and public organizations.

Welcoming remarks to the conference were made by Olga Guseva, Director of the Department of International Relations of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Lobachevsky University, Andrey Bureev, Deputy Director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, and Olga Savinova, Head of the Journalism Department.

During the plenary session and the panel sessions, conference participants discussed the following issues: media in today's socio-cultural context; traditional and new media during the pandemic; communication training in a distance learning environment; journalism training: Russian and foreign experience.

The event was concluded with the round table "Young Researchers on the Media", where undergraduate and graduate students shared the results of their research.
