Meeting on migration issues held in Nizhny Novgorod
A meeting between representatives of Nizhny Novgorod higher education institutions where foreign nationals study and officers of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Nizhny Novgorod region was held on 26 January. The meeting that was co-organised by Lobachevsky University was chaired by Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and police colonel Andrey Knaus, Head of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs have explained the changes in the migration legislation that came into force on 1 January 2023. A new public service has been introduced consisting in the issuance of a temporary residence permit for the purpose of education. It can be used by international students enrolled on a full-time basis in Bachelor's, Specialist, Master's or Residency programmes with state accreditation or in postgraduate education programmes.
Migration Department employees provided detailed information on the procedure for issuing the temporary residence permit for the purpose of education in the Nizhny Novgorod region and answered questions of the representatives of higher education institutions.
