Members of Syrian Students' Council meet with IIRWH students at UNN Friendship House
Students of the Institute of International Relations and World History (IIRWH) of Lobachevsky University majoring in Foreign Regional Studies and studying Arabic met with representatives of the Syrian Students' Council of Lobachevsky University at the UNN Friendship House. The meeting was organised by the staff of the International Students Support Office of Lobachevsky University.
The Russian students were introduced to the activities of the Syrian Students' Council and had an opportunity to learn more about Syrian culture and traditions. They also practised their Arabic with native speakers.
During the meeting the participants exchanged views and discussed further cooperation and joint cultural, social and scientific events to be held in the future.
"Such events are not just about getting to know the culture of a particular country. Primarily, it's about practising the language. Arabic is a difficult language and opportunities to develop practical speaking skills are very important. And events in a dialogue format greatly improve speaking skills," said Sergei Arutyunyan of the International Students Support Office.
At the end of the meeting, the participants thanked the staff of the International Students Support Office for organising an interesting and very useful event. The IIRWH students also expressed their gratitude to the administration of the UNN Institute of International Relations and World History for supporting such initiatives.
