Mobile exhibition "First among the Stars" opens at Lobachevsky University
On June 2, the mobile exhibition "First among the Stars" opened in the Bibliosphere Hall of Lobachevsky University. The exhibition commemorates the 65th anniversary of the first manned space flight. It is part of a project that describes how the dream about stars has become part of Russia’s great history – its science, culture and daily life. The event was attended by representatives of the exhibition's organising companies, the university's management and students.
The project "First among the Stars" was launched by RIA Novosti, ON Media Holding and Sputnik Radio with the support of the Roscosmos State Corporation, the Russian Military Historical Society, the National Centre for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation and the Russian Historical Society. The project provides for educational events for students and schoolchildren using special information materials on space exploration history.
The photo exhibition "First among the Stars" was opened by Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University. "Our university is the cradle of radiophysics, we successfully operate the Advanced Engineering School “Space Communications, Navigation and Radar”, which is one of the best Advanced engineering schools in the country. We also have a space project, the Lobachevsky Satellite. The satellite was launched into orbit in December last year and has become a full-fledged “space test bed” for both scientists and students. In May of this year, UNN won a grant for the development and implementation of the additional professional education programme “Fundamentals of satellite engineering and space communications". All this means that it is not by chance that the exhibition “First among the Stars" is opening at our university today. I sincerely thank RIA Novosti and ON Media holding for their cooperation. I would like to say a special thank you to our strategic partner, Roscosmos State Corporation," said Oleg Trofimov.
The exhibition’s main theme is the history of space exploration depicted in a series of unique archive photographs.
