The results of the admission campaign for foreign citizens to Bachelor's, Specialist, Master's and Residency programmes were summed up at Lobachevsky University. More than 700 new students from 75 countries were enrolled at UNN in 2024. These are students from Asia (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, China, Laos, Turkmenistan); Africa (Angola, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ethiopia, South Africa, etc.); Middle East (Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc.); Latin America (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, etc.) and CIS countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc.).

Overall, UNN received over 3,700 applications for admission from foreign applicants during the admission campaign. This year, the most popular programmes among foreign applicants were General Medicine, Information Technology, International Relations, Biology, Psychology, and Law. Pedagogical educational programmes implemented at the Arzamas branch of Lobachevsky University are also in demand.

As UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov noted, the 2024 admission campaign for foreign applicants shows an increased interest in educational programmes at the Master's, postgraduate and residency levels.

“234 foreign citizens were enrolled at UNN for Master's, postgraduate and residency programmes. For the first time this year, foreign applicants were admitted to the Master's programmes implemented in English - Biomedicine and Cyberpsychology. This year our Institute of Clinical Medicine admitted the first international residents to study on the Cardiology, Orthodontics, Surgical Dentistry and Orthopaedic Dentistry programmes. It is worth noting that more and more foreign applicants who enrol under the intergovernmental quota choose educational programmes at Lobachevsky University,“ said the UNN Rector.

In 2024, Lobachevsky University continued to admit students from abroad to international educational programmes. For example, in cooperation with Tashkent State University of Law (Uzbekistan), a Bachelor's programme in Jurisprudence is being implemented. 32 students from Uzbekistan have already started their studies at the UNN Faculty of Law. Nine students from China were enrolled in the Bachelor's degree programme in Biology (taught in English) that Lobachevsky University carries out jointly with the MSU-BIT University in Shenzhen (China).

In October 2024, Lobachevsky University also welcomed students from partner universities of the People's Republic of China: students from Shanghai University of Politics and Law and Sichuan University of Foreign Languages arrived in Nizhny Novgorod to study Russian as a foreign language at UNN’s Centre for Educational Programmes for Foreigners.

Currently, Lobachevsky University has over 2,200 international students from 92 countries.
