UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov pointed out that the admission campaign for foreign applicants in 2025 was notable for an increased interest in full-time education programmes at the bachelor's, specialist's, master’s, postgraduate, and residency levels:

"A total of 656 foreign citizens were enrolled in UNN and its branches for full-time higher education programmes. In 2025, the list of residency programmes available for training increased, including such unique programmes as Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry. Lobachevsky University saw an eightfold increase in the number of international students enrolled in its residency programmes compared to the previous year."

In the year 2025, UNN continued to accept international students for its international educational programmes. One such initiative is a bachelor's degree programme in law being offered in collaboration with Tashkent State University of Law (Republic of Uzbekistan). Thirty students from Uzbekistan have already commenced their studies at the Law Faculty of Lobachevsky University.

Also, in September 2025, Lobachevsky University welcomed 29 students from partner universities in the People's Republic of China. Students from Shanghai University of Politics and Law and Sichuan University of Foreign Languages arrived in Nizhny Novgorod to study Russian as a foreign language at the UNN Centre for Educational Programmes for Foreign Citizens.
