The admission campaign for foreign citizens applying for Bachelor's, Specialist's and Master's programmes is now over at Lobachevsky University. This year, over 3000 applications for admission to Lobachevsky University were submitted by foreign applicants.

By the end of the admission campaign, more than 900 students from 60 countries were admitted to the university. These students come from Asia (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, China, Laos, Turkmenistan), Africa (Angola, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ethiopia, South Africa, etc.), Middle East (Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc.), Latin America (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, etc.) and CIS countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, etc.). For comparison, in 2022 there were over 550 foreign citizens who became Lobachevsky University students.

According to Oleg Trofimov, Acting Rector of Lobachevsky University, the most popular fields of study among foreign applicants this year are general medicine, information technology, international relations, psychology, pedagogical education, history and law.

"The 2023 admission campaign is distinguished by an increased interest in our humanities programmes delivered in Russian, such as pedagogical education and history. It is important to note that more and more foreign applicants enrolling under the intergovernmental quota choose our educational programmes," said Oleg Trofimov.

In 2023, Lobachevsky University continued to admit foreign students to international educational programmes. Thus, jointly with the Tashkent State University of Law (Uzbekistan), a Bachelor's degree programme in Jurisprudence is being implemented. 18 students from Uzbekistan have already started their studies at the UNN Faculty of Law. In October 2023, Lobachevsky University welcomed students from partner universities of the People's Republic of China: students from Shanghai University of Politics and Law, Sichuan University of Foreign Languages and Zhengzhou University arrived in Nizhny Novgorod to study Russian as a foreign language at UNN’s Centre for Educational Programmes for Foreigners.

Currently, Lobachevsky University has over 2,200 international students from 83 countries.
