Nearly 2000 medical students from 46 countries are studying at Lobachevsky University
On 11 October 2023, the Institute of Clinical Medicine of Lobachevsky University hosted the first research and practice conference on the results of the summer internship of 4th and 5th year students studying medicine and dentistry.
About 40 medical students made reports presenting the results of their internships at medical institutions of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region, describing the most interesting and unusual clinical cases. They also shared their diagnostic observations with their peers. The conference included the sections "General Medicine" and "Dentistry". Students from both the Russian and English departments presented their reports.
Oleg Trofimov, Acting Rector of Lobachevsky University, noted at the opening of the conference that UNN has historically been the cradle of medical education in the region, and the peculiarity of medical training at the classical university is education at the intersection of various disciplines - chemistry, physics, biology, which makes it possible to develop unique projects for the benefit of the people of Nizhny Novgorod and the whole country.
"The Institute of Clinical Medicine was established within the structure of Lobachevsky University exactly one year ago. And today about 2000 students from 46 countries of the world receive education in this institute. At the conference, the students show what they have learnt during their summer internship, and the teachers can assess the level of their students' training. Our students have the opportunity to practice in leading clinics in Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region - more than 40 medical institutions are cooperating with us," Oleg Trofimov pointed out.
The decision to establish a new structural unit - the Institute of Clinical Medicine - was made at the meeting of the Academic Council of Lobachevsky University in October 2022. The new institute includes: Higher School of Rehabilitation and Human Health, University Clinic, Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Surgical Diseases, Department of Multidisciplinary Clinical Training, Department of Clinical Dentistry, Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Neurology, Accreditation and Simulation Centre, Department of Educational Work.
