A delegation of Lobachevsky University headed by the Acting Rector Oleg Trofimov visited the Republic of Armenia at the end of April 2023. The delegation included: Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for International Affairs; Evgenia Chernykh, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Andrey Leonov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law; Yulia Orlova, Head of the Department of European and International Law; and Irina Filipova, Associate Professor of the Department of Labour and Environmental Law.

UNN representatives visited the Armenian State University of Economics and met with the university's rector, Diana Galoyan. As a result of the talks, an agreement was signed on cooperation in education and science, as well as an agreement on academic exchange of students. The parties also discussed cooperation between the two universities within the framework of the Eurasian Network University, which UNN joined in March this year. A roadmap for cooperation in the fields of economics, finance and management for 2023-2025 was also signed.

Later, in the course of the meeting with Vadim Fefilov, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo's Representative Office in Armenia, the delegation discussed the organization of joint educational activities in Armenia, cooperation with Armenian schools, holding exhibitions under the auspices of Rossotrudnichestvo and participation of UNN representatives in the activities aimed at attracting talented applicants from Armenia to study at Lobachevsky University in 2024 under the quotas of the Russian Government.

The delegation also visited Yerevan State University. UNN Acting Rector Oleg Trofimov and Yerevan State University Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan signed an agreement on cooperation in education and science and a roadmap for its implementation, with a special emphasis on cooperation in the field of IT and artificial intelligence. The two universities plan to sign an agreement on academic exchange of students, as well as to participate in joint projects in basic research and NBICS technologies that combine the achievements of nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology and cognitive science.

"The Republic of Armenia is our long-term partner in the field of scientific and educational cooperation. Thanks to our April visit, Lobachevsky University's network of partners in Armenia has increased from three to five universities. Together with our Armenian colleagues we implement research projects, student exchange programmes, hold international conferences and round tables. Our cooperation is a logical development of UNN's activities as a member of the Eurasian Network University, and also contributes to strengthening scientific and educational ties between the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Republic of Armenia," commented Acting Rector Oleg Trofimov after the visit.

Also during the visit, the Russian-Armenian University hosted an international round table entitled "The Development of the Law of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Role of the EAEU Court".

It would be worth mentioning that a number of Armenian institutions of higher education have already established partnerships with UNN, including the Russian-Armenian State University, the Abeghyan Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences, and the Abovyan Armenian State Pedagogical University.
