New residency programmes opened at UNN
The Institute of Clinical Medicine (ICM) of Lobachevsky University has been granted a licence for four new residency specialities and will open Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Surgery and Plastic Surgery programmes during the admission campaign of 2025. Now it is possible to get training in 15 residency specialities at the UNN ICM.
There have already been residency programmes for medical professionals at Lobachevsky University in the following areas: Anaesthesiology-Resuscitation, Dermatovenerology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Therapy, Therapeutic Dentistry, Surgical Dentistry, Orthopaedic Dentistry, Orthodontics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.
“In addition to the already existing 11 areas of residency training, four more have been added starting from this year, including such socially important ones as Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, and Surgery. There is a separate programme on Plastic Surgery, which has a training period of five years, as this multidisciplinary speciality requires a huge amount of knowledge: there is no area of the human body where methods and techniques of plastic surgery are not applied. The idea to open this area of training was proposed by Svetlana Tishkova, Head of the Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the Semashko Regional Clinical Hospital, Chief Specialist in Plastic Surgery at the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Accordingly, the practical training facilities for our residents will be provided by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, as well as by the leading clinics of Nizhny Novgorod, which have the appropriate equipment and experts”, said Dr. Natalia Grigorieva, Director of the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine.
