New student dormitory opens at Lobachevsky University
On May 21, 2019, Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Andrei Gneushev took part in the international student festival “Future in the Present” on the UNN campus. The central event of the festival was the opening of a new dormitory for Russian and international students. “Students from 78 regions of Russia and 105 countries of the world receive their education at Lobachevsky University, and the opening of the new dormitory provides an opportunity for more than 600 young men and women to study in Nizhny Novgorod,” said Andrei Gneushev.
The new dormitory is an 8-storey building, which will provide comfortable accommodation for students starting from the new academic year. The modern student dormitory will satisfy all the needs of the students’ daily life: in addition to the residential units, it houses a dining room, a gym, classrooms for independent studies and a first-aid post. Spacious residential units for 4 persons include two living rooms, a kitchen, a separate shower room and a bathroom. In each unit, there is a refrigerator and an electric stove. The dormitory also has a number of residential blocks for students with impaired mobility.
“This is a significant event in the history of Lobachevsky University, it is very important for our students and applicants. With the commissioning of the dormitory, the UNN, one of Russia’s leading universities becomes a modern world-class campus, and we solve a very important problem by providing students with housing during their studies. The quality level of the new dormitory meets the highest international standards,” emphasized Kirill Markov, Acting Rector of the UNN.
