Following a meeting with international students taking part in a summer school at Lobachevsky University, Olga Guseva, Director of the Department of External Relations of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, noted:   “Increasing the export of education and expanding its geography is one of the key tasks of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Summer language schools at Nizhny Novgorod universities for training graduate students from different countries constitute a new direction in the development of education services exports.”

The meeting was attended by Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Lobachevsky University, and Konstantin Kemaev, Academic Director of the Russia Goes Global Summer School, Head of the UNN Center for the Examination of Foreign Documents on Education and Qualifications, and a group of students from the USA, Italy, Croatia, Denmark, Peru, India and Taiwan, who are interested in modern international relations, diplomacy and foreign policy of the Russian Federation.

Olga Guseva recalled that nearly 3,500 foreign students from all over the world were enrolled at Nizhny Novgorod region’s institutions of higher education  during the last academic year, and almost a third of them studied at Lobachevsky University. In 2019, in accordance with the decision of Governor Gleb Nikitin, the Nizhny Novgorod region started its work in the national project “International Cooperation and Export”. As part of the national project, it is planned to increase the region’s exports from $ 4 billion in 2018 to at least $ 5.2 billion in 2024.
