The Russian agro-industrial holding "AFG National" has signed a cooperation agreement with Lobachevsky University in the field of agricultural technology. According to the press service of the agro-industrial holding, UNN scientists will conduct research at the holding's enterprises in the Nizhny Novgorod region with the aim of creating a new type of fertilizer. In particular, researchers will use in crop farming new polymer film-forming compositions that contain bacteria and microelements. "Our task is to develop a technology for the production and application of an integrated innovative fertilizer that will significantly increase the yield of grain crops and their resistance to pathogenic microflora and also will reduce the chemical load on the soil," notes Dr. Victor Novikov, Director of the UNN Center for Molecular Biology and Regional Ecology, who is in charge of technology development.

The project takes part in the competitive selection of the Ministry of Education and Science within the framework of the Federal Program "R&D in Priority Areas for the Development of the Russian Science and Technology Complex for 2014-2020". Lobachevsky University, when successful in the competitive selection, will receive 60 million roubles from the state budget for this project. The project will also receive support from the agricultural holding amounting to 29 million roubles for the period of three years if the research is successful.
