“People of the World with Songs about Peace”: international students stage a concert
A concert "People of the World with Songs about Peace" was held at Lobachevsky University. The event was organised by participants of the international students’ programme of social initiatives "I Care – I Can!" and activists of the International Students Club with the support of the UNN Department for International Student Affairs.
Taking part in the concert were students from Algeria, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Congo, Cameroon, Iran, Nigeria, Peru, Tanzania, Tunisia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, Syria and Russia. The event featured songs about peace, national dances, and world music classics. The memory of the Great Patriotic War was one of the central themes of the concert programme: the song "Victory Day" was performed by a student from Uzbekistan.
"Music and art are the things that have always united people. Through music, people speak the universal language of harmony and universal human values. At the same time, through art, progressive humanity sends a message to present and future generations that only in an atmosphere of peace and mutual understanding can humanity survive and continue its development, because, as one of the classics said, "Look for a shelter where you hear a song – bad people don't sing songs!" - noted Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the UNN International Students Support Office.
