Professor Martin Paul Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Lobachevsky University

On May 31, 2019, the 11th International Theoretical and Practical Conference “Innovative Economy: Global and Regional Trends” was held at Lobachevsky University. It was dedicated to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of higher education in economics in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The plenary meeting of the conference was opened with a ceremony of awarding the degree of Honorary Doctor of Lobachevsky University to Professor Martin Paul, President of the University of Maastricht, Co-Chairman of the International Council of Lobachevsky University.

The decision to confer this honorary degree was made by the Academic Council of Lobachevsky University in recognition of Prof. Paul’s contribution to the development of international relations in the field of science and education, the growing recognition and prestige of the University in the international arena, and increasing the competitiveness of UNN among the world's leading scientific and educational centers.

The diploma and the mantle of the Honorary Doctor  were presented to Professor Paul by Roman Strongin, President of Lobachevsky University. At the end of the ceremony, Professor Paul made a report on university innovations as exemplified by the University of Maastricht.
