On October 6, the Russian Week of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science opened at secondary school No. 9 named after A. Sadykov in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan. During this week, Lobachevsky University will provide classes for students and teachers of general secondary education institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic. The project is implemented with the grant support of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).

Opening the event, project leader Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice Rector for International Affairs and External Communications, congratulated everyone on Teacher's Day, which is celebrated in both Russia and Kyrgyzstan. He noted the importance of strengthening cooperation between universities and secondary education institutions.

"We are delighted that cooperation in the field of education between Russia and Kyrgyzstan is strengthening and developing. Lobachevsky University is famous all over the world for its scientific schools in mathematics and physics, and is also a modern centre for training professionals in the field of information technology. We have an extensive network of partnerships, nine agreements have been signed with educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic, and today we will sign even more. This is important for promoting Russian education in natural sciences and technical fields among school graduates, enhancing the skills of teachers and, of course, further strengthening and expanding the use of the Russian language in Kyrgyzstan, where it has official status," Alexander Bedny pointed out.

"We see how the Kyrgyz Republic is actively developing, and where there is economic growth, there is always a need for new professionals, technologists, scientists, engineers, managers, representatives of many other professions that are now open to school students. The Russian Week of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, which began today, is a significant contribution to the training of such professionals. It shows our desire to combine the efforts of two friendly countries in joint advancement, as united efforts can achieve great things," said Pavel Gultyaev, curator of educational projects at the Russian House in Bishkek.

As part of the opening ceremony, a cooperation agreement was signed between Lobachevsky University and Secondary School No. 9 named after A. Sadykov. According to Elvira Akmatbek Kyzy, Director of Secondary School No. 9, school students choose to study in Russian because it is important for their development and opens up opportunities at the international level. Undoubtedly, such collaboration with Russian universities provides fresh prospects for gifted students who are especially interested in the study of exact and natural sciences. For six days, students in grades 8-11 and subject teachers from schools in Naryn, Kochkorka, and At-Bashi will be taught through educational and instructional programmes in Russian developed by a team of UNN educators.

Olga Lebedeva, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor at the UNN Department of Crystallography and Experimental Physics, noted that the programmes for school students are designed to foster their interest in studying natural science and mathematical disciplines. Teachers, in their turn, will be updated on the latest developments in physics and mathematics education, including the implementation of educational research and projects. This approach will contribute to promoting the popularization of Russian physics and mathematics education, and establishing partnerships with schools and teachers in the Kyrgyz Republic.

"We employ a variety of  interactive teaching methods such as solving experimental research problems in groups, mathematical quests, and brain-ring competitions. Classes with school students also include an introduction to cutting-edge technologies in virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

For teachers, we offer a wide range of hands-on activities, master classes, and seminars for sharing expertise," Olga Lebedeva said.

At the end of the week, students will receive certificates of the additional general education programme "Russian Week of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science". Teachers who have completed the final certification under the professional development programme will be issued a document attesting to their professional development according to the standards of the Russian Federation.
