On 14 March, a meeting aiming to develop the concept of a carbon testing ground in the Nizhniy Novgorod region was held at Lobachevsky University. Creating a network of carbon testing grounds in Russia is intended to solve the problem of atmospheric pollution by carbon dioxide. The meeting was attended by Deputy Governors of the Nizhny Novgorod region Andrey Betin and Andrey Sanosyan, Minister of Education, Science and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region Olga Petrova, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Sergeev, Rector of Lobachevsky University Elena Zagaynova, heads of relevant departments of the University as well as representatives of the RAS Institute of Applied Physics. An agreement was reached to create a working group at the Nizhny Novgorod Research and Education Centre and to develop the framework for the testing ground project that will be presented at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and at a special session of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
