Quantum Center to be established in Nizhny Novgorod
On March 20, Lobachevsky University signed an agreement on the establishment of a consortium "Nizhny Novgorod Quantum Center". The trilateral agreement was signed by Alexander Belyaev, Director General of Vremya CH Company, Alexander Litvak, Scientific Adviser of the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Elena Zagaynova, Acting Rector of Lobachevsky University. Quantum technologies are one of the priorities of the national project "Digital Economy". The work in this direction is important for the development of other industries: information technologies, medicine, neurotechnologies and big data.
"At present, quantum research is supported by the President of the Russian Federation, the development of quantum computing is entrusted to the state corporation "Rosatom". Today, we organize a consortium of Nizhny Novgorod region institutions that already have experience in this field. Thus, we are trying to be ahead of the curve in order to be ready to participate in new large-scale programs and projects," said Elena Zagaynova, Acting Rector of Lobachevsky University.
The consortium's work will be focused on the development of quantum computing, quantum communications, sensors and metrology in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
"The backbone of our company is formed by graduates of the UNN Faculty of Radiophysics, so we are interested in well-trained research personnel. We also want to take part in the creation of new equipment, in the research process," noted Director General of Vremya CH Company Alexander Belyaev.
The research and technological ecosystem will require both the development of human resources, including the creation of joint educational programs, laboratories and start-ups and interaction with
industrial and financial partners, as well as the development of international cooperation.
Academician Alexander Litvak, Scientific Adviser of IAP RAS, had this to say: "We have agreed to create a council that will ensure effective cooperation and interaction with the authorities playing a role in the funding of scientific projects. We are ready to expand our research because we have the necessary potential, young scientists who are Lobachevsky University graduates".
